The decision whether or not to declaw your cat is a personal one that reflects your unique animal and home situation and we will respect your choice.
Once you have made that choice, however, know that we will do everything possible to make this surgery as painless as we can and with as short of a recovery as possible.
This includes the use of a three part analgesia program involving pre-surgical pain medication and a local nerve block as well as post surgical pain mediation both the day of surgery as well as the following day.
We will also offer to dispense further pain medication for use at home if requested.
As with all of our surgeries declawing is done using a CO2 laser further reducing pain and bleeding.
Most cats do not require any bandaging for this procedure and can use conventional clumping litter as the incisions are closed with a liquid bandage.
